I finished reading The Circle by Dave Eggers.📚 The book starts quite harmlessly, but somehow you suspect that something is off. It does not take long until you begin to see the cracks in the shiny circle world, which each additional monitor installed at the main protagonist desk.
Sometimes I felt exhausted thinking about all the thing which are expected of the circle workers in the after hours. They are never mandatory, but if you miss them, you will get a concerned talk. And the fact that the main character is unable to push back against these things and continually searches the fault by herself is also strange.
The old boyfriend reminds me of Harold from the Stand. However, I’m conflicted because he is described as an unsympathetic person - but I have the feeling he is on the right side of the questions regarding surveillance and tracking everything.
