Review of The Choice of Magic (Art of the Adept Book 1)

I just finished reading The Choice of Magic (Art of the Adept Book 1) by Michael G. Manning.πŸ“š Another book proposed by the algorithm of Amazon, and as I was for the lookout for something lighter to read, I’ve decided to give it a try. The book did not disappoint. It is the classic hero story but with some twists. I especially liked how magic is working in this world and how he is learning it.

Review of The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia (Hainish Cycle)

I just finished reading The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia (Hainish Cycle) by Ursula K. Le Guin.πŸ“š The book’s story has an unusual structure. It starts in the middle of the story, and each chapter is alternating between the past and the future. In the past chapter, we are told the childhood and growing up of the main character Shevek. In the future chapter, we are told about his journey to the sister planet Urrasti where he is a guest of a country called A-Io.

Review of The Left Hand of Darkness (Hainish Cycle)

I just finished reading The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin.πŸ“š I stumbled over this series on Micro.blog, I think, and as I needed something new to read, I started it. It is fascinating how Ms. Le Guin can write Science Fiction without ever needing to invent or explain technology. This book has Aliens and Spacecraft, but most of the book, the two main protagonists are walking though the big open world.

Review of Infinite Detail

I just finished reading Infinite Detail: A Novel by Tim Maughan.πŸ“š It took some time to get into the story. The book contains two timelines. One timeline called “After” is situated after the global networks stopped working. The reason for this crash is not explained in the beginning; it is just a given. But not all technology is death. The other timeline is called “Before” and shows the situation just before the crash.

Review of The Great Hunt, The Wheel of Time, Book 2

Review of The Great Hunt, The Wheel of Time, Book 2 audiobook πŸ“š. The journey goes further. We start seeing some growth in Rand in this book. I’ve entirely forgotten how early the Black Ajah is mentioned for the first time. Or better, I see now that on the first – and second – time reading, I did not give it’s mention as much thought as I give it now.

Review of The World According to Bob: The further adventures of one man and his street-wise cat

I finished reading The World According to Bob: The further adventures of one man and his street-wise cat by James Bowen.πŸ“š After reading the first issue, I also decided to read the follow-up book. This book did not feel as coherent as the first one. But it is still an exciting and easy read. James goes into more detail of different parts of his life and also the writing process of the first book.
