June 2021
I think I learned quite a lot about customer management this week. And we are not in the middle of the week yet.
Temporarily flower pots in the city. I need something nice to get into a better mood :-(
Computer maintenance day. Our Mac mini started to behave strongly (lot of freezes). Could have been the heat or something worse.
It looks like I need to update my computer this weekend so I can again install iOS apps on my phone, a project for tomorrow, I think.
Puh finally weekend.
Only one week of work left until holidays! I need it.
Today was a good day, a lot better than yesterday.
I’m trying to create a collage with these cutout monsters but I’m not yet feeling inspired :-( Cut be because I’m just very tired today.
I could use some help, in case somebody has an idea how to solve this :-)
I've integrated the viewer.html part as-is into a web view in an Android app. But now, when I use the search argument when displaying the pdf, the search selection is offset some characters from the

An image of a tree seed (I think) looked at through my daughter new microscope. Looks like I have some learning to do to help her prepare new samples :-)
We finally got a much needed cool-down and some rain. I hope I will sleep better this night!
My Expandable Table is still the favorite furniture project I’ve ever made. Not that we need it everyday but when you need it it’s handy.
I enjoy the quiet before the storm. Later today, we have full house with the children my daughter invited for her birthday party – wish me luck :-D
I had a good day today, work went way better than expected, and we could attend our daughter’s first piano concert today, which was a big success.
A nice surprise from my wife.
Review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter 7)
I finished listening Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter 7) by J.K. Rowling.📚
The last book of the series. The time for subtlety is over. Harry, Ron, and Hermoine are on the last quest to prepare for the big fight.
Still more Strawberry desserts. On the left a strawberry shake and on the right with vanilla ice and cream. I love them ;-)
The day has not enough hours for the work I should be doing right now :-(
A smiley in our food.
An overgrown door to which magical real will it lead me?
I just got the first 💉.
I just started reading The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastards, Book 1) by Scott Lynch.📚
We harvested our first strawberries.
Birds taking a bath
It’s alive – not yet a valid program, it is just executing NOPs right now.
I made good progress on my CPU design in the last two days. It’s starting to come alive.
Summer — Strawberries with sugar
WWDC 2021 keynote is over, and there are some exciting features in there. Especially the new object detecting framework. Not sure what I should think about Xcode cloud, especially with the change in the macOS licensing terms for cloud hosting.
Ok not sure about the tab design in Safari for Mac, but the new tab bar in iOS looks sweet.
And tab bar groups is a feature I have wished for multiple times already.
Impressed by the universal control feature. I’m just wondering how good it will work in reality.
I loved the intro - the musical part was the best :-)
Ready :-)
Already 20 years since I’ve seen this as a child. My first musical ever, and I instantly fell in love. Not sure what I should think about the new version, especially as it will be in Swiss German. The original had music in English. And the signature song “Look to the stars” has such a good message. As has the whole production (work together / we are the same / together we can overcome all difficulties).
Das Schweizer Kultmusical kehrt endlich zurück! Über eine Million Personen haben die «Space Dream»-Saga in der Schweiz und in Deutschland...
My work today - birthday party invitations.
I trimmed my tomato plant and organized my shop. Now I can relax a bit.
Next lamp installed. It took nearly the whole day to get it up.
Today I installed the first permanent light fixture in our flat — after living here for more than 1.5 years.
Using automation for my note taking process
When I’m not at my computer and want to take a note, I usually send myself an email. But the big issue I have with this process is that I never move the note out of the email app later. Triggered by my current book How to Take Smart Notes, I started a slip-box, and I think it helps me when my notes automatically get added there. So I wrote an AppleScript which the Mail program can call from a rule.We were proposed some thunder today but now it looks like we only get some mild winds. I’m a bit disappointed.
I love it when you update one app, and then you need to update everything else then as well – and of course, my hard drive is nearly full, and I cannot make the necessary updates.
@V_ what OS is that?
by michaelbishop on
@michaelbishop it's the diagnostic mode (entered by pressing D while booting) of the regular macOS. But it looks like it was not updated in ages — a nice throwback to OS9.
