November 2022
We have many rules to prevent accidents from happening in our lives. But it also means we must take the safety rules seriously and pay attention to them.
I like watching fish swimming around in an aquarium.
All indicators are showing a trend toward the Christmas season.
Today I’m struggling with motivation to do anything productive.
Starting with a new piano piece today: Arabeske by Friedrich Burgmüller. It a different style to the other pieces I’ve tried so far but I like it. It’s not sounding like anything yet.
I need to keep the amount of commitments in my life under close observation. Otherwise, I overcommit and get burned out.
A house under clouds with a bit of sun. A doodle I made yesterday.
I had a story idea while lying awake in bed. Something about forgetting, and I fought that I should write it down as it would be funny when I woke up again in the morning and had the idea forgotten.
Guess what happened in the morning :-)
I just started reading On Writing Well: An Informal Guide to Writing Nonfiction by William Zinsser.📚
I finished reading The Mozart Conspiracy (Ben Hope, Book 2) by Scott Mariani.📚
Making tea is my first thing after standing up is my morning ritual.
Back from the doctor’s appointment. It looks like I need to find a new doctor again. I hate it when I have the feeling that I’m troubling him in his day :-( Come on, I’m here and am your paying customer. Don’t try to end the conversation before we actually start.
If I don’t repeat my piano pieces regularly, I don’t retain them.
My phone is asking me to update, but I’m not ready yet.
I walk over the crest and see my cows grazeing on the pasture — content with their lives and the world.
Sometimes you wander onto thin ice without noticing it!
I have phases where I listen to a single song, album, or artist on repeat.
Love this! And I want to see a whole production about pizza with the songs from Hamilton :-D

I’m experimenting with the graph view in Obsidian. I like how all my notes look and how they are connected. But I need to link a bit more :-)
I love my work Macbook Pro 14 inch. It is nice and small so that I could use it in the car, and later on the bus, we drove to the restaurant for Christmas dinner with my wife’s workplace. And all because we found a bug in the software my customer wants to take productive today.
Writing a novel does no longer sound as unimaginable as it used to be a year ago or so, But it is still a lot of hard work, and I’m not yet ready for it.
Elephant at the zoo in Zürich.
I’m missing a good night’s sleep and am starting to get tired.
The hero of the book series I’m reading looks down many barrels throughout one adventure. But somehow, he always survives in the end.
We have liftoff!!!
Today is the day — or not? Will the SLS have liftoff? (The image shows a doodle of the SLS Rocket with the caption below “will it liftoff?”).
I like that I have a franchise in what my country is doing – but it also means that you must participate. Otherwise, it is not of much value.
A doddle I drawn last week. The guy in the image says: “Debugging with an headache is a headache itself!”
I like aluminium as an uncomplicated building material. Especially as I can work it with my woodworking tools. The image shows a key fob I made out of it.
I got new reading material. The book on the left is “Bird By Bird” by Anne Lamott and on the right we have “On Writing Well” by William Zinsser. I have not yet read much of them but both sound intriguing.
A doodle of three balloons. I would like to be flying free like them.
A lot of people are leaving Twitter right now.
Found a new musician yesterday. Love her singing style. It reminds me a lot of the earlier days of Pomplamoose.

The past two to three years needed a lot of adjustment from everybody.
Does understanding story structure as a reader take away from the fun of reading?
I had an interesting discussion with a work colleague this week about writing and starting to understand the structure of particular genres.
Her day did not go well. It started with oversleeping and now receiving a failing grade for the English test from last week. She could not shake off a suspicion that her good fortunes were coming to an end.
It is a good idea to ignore the display and look at what’s interesting around you.
After weeks of scandal, the minister faces the public for the first time. He smiles and takes a deep breath, “You have heard a lot of rumors – and they are true – but you have not heard the whole story. So let me…” he is interrupted by a gunshot, and he falls from the stage.
Editing a story is such a strange process. After I had a lot off issues reading though my first draft for the first time. I’m now back into it an starting to remove scenes and planing new ones to make it better Oo.
I had to debug an interesting issue today: One request to a background system is constantly failing when done by our server. But works fine when I try the same request via curl. The error message for the failing one is ECONNREFUSED. I have no idea why it would not work :-(.
Unfortunately, it is certain that every holiday must end at some point.
My wife and I tried out a new spa yesterday. And they had a nice little relaxation zone which I enjoyed a lot. It was a long time since I last sat somewhere and did nothing: no reading, no devices. I was sitting in an easy-hanging chair and relaxing. I should do this more often.
The highest Swiss government body is working with a consensus model to govern the day-to-day tasks of a country.
I’ve managed to get some insights over the weekend.
Today we eat red bread for breakfast :-D
A poem: I’M A SAD SALAD / SITTING IN A FIELD / OVERGROWN WITH/ BRUSSELS SPROUTS. / ALL ALONE IM A / SAD SALAD!
I watched Im Westen nichts Neues on Netflix yesterday. The film was strange but not bad. It is a sad story – not surprised when you think about the topic. And the ending was as expected – everybody dies. But I noticed that it is a very different style of movie. There is not much dialog, and when they talk, it is mundane and does not explain much. They are just there and are dying one way or another.
As a teenager, I liked to play with the echo and delay module on the sound mixing panel of my cousin, as mine did not have that feature.
Writing a short story is so much more fun than editing it :-(
I’ve stumbled over this article (unfortunately in German) and it reminded me regarding the discussion we recently had regarding taking pictures of strangers. My takeaway of the article is that it is complicated.

The pumpkin my daughter and I crafted on Saturday.
At the moment, I am trying to figure out my future. Very little success so far.
