March 2023
Photo Challenge Day 31 Some more practice with book binding I made today. The image shows another text block which I just added the glue after having it sown.
I just finished reading Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life by Anne Lamott.📚
I connected an old keyboard to my iPhone and am experimenting with writing on it. It works, but the screen is small. I have some issues with special characters, and the keyboard lags a bit.
Photo Challenge Day 30 A mirror selfie.
Looks like my DNS issue is resolved and my homepage should work again.
Photo Challenge Day 29 A slice of a new cake receipt my wife tried out. Tasty!
Photo Challenge Day 28 My daily journal prompt. The image shows a photo of the email I receive each evening. Asking me five questions about the day (What did I do / What was amazing / What did I learn / What is the days score).
Photo Challenge Day 27 Part of my support to start and survive the day: Six packings of Hagelslag and multiple other assorted cookies from our pantry.
Photo Challenge Day 26 Todays word was simple. My instrument of choice is the piano. I’ve started late with it (two years ago) but I’m making steady progress with it.
My project today: Switching out the door gasket of our washing machine. I hoped to be able to do it without removing the front, but in the end it was not possible, as I needed more space to connect the water inlet.
Photo Challenge Day 25 A chilli spice mix. Unfortunately I can only use it when I cook for myself, as otherwise it will be to hot.
I finished my second bookbinding project some days ago. I’m happy with the outcome – I especially like the old map I used for the cover decorations. The book is A6 in size and was bound, not only glued like my first one. The decorative paper on the cover insides are red.
Weekend! :-D
Photo Challenge Day 24 I did not find an court today, but an courtyard instead.
Photo Challenge Day 23 How big is your chance to get a two with a dice?
A floating house doodle I’ve drawn over the past few days. I’m quite fond of this isometric drawing style.
Photo Challenge Day 22 I found an insect on a window. I have no idea what type of insect it is.
We just had an earthquake here. Around 4 on the richer scale. These things just feel uncanny.
I rewatched the first episode of Ted Lasso today with my wife. It is interesting how many details I missed when if watched it for the first time. And also what I had forgotten and what I had remembered. 📺
Photo Challenge Day 21 A tiny piece of rubber is missing from our washing machine’s door gasket, and it is now leaking.
Photo Challenge Day 20 Our two youngest avocado trees – not a classical houseplant. Lovingly raised from the seed by my wife.
Looks like there are also struggling banks in my country. I wonder if I should stop my news embargo again I’m feeling a bit out of the loop. On the other hand, reading the news does not provide any value to my day in 99% of the cases. Context: Credit Suisse.
I wrote two good paragraphs of dialogue today. And it looks like I’m wiring a love story now – I’m shocked. Not something I would have expected to be writing at the start of this journey. 📝
Photo Challenge Day 19 Resistors: one of the many analog electronic components in my arsenal.
Photo Challenge Day 18 It was hard to find a house I could take a picture of with a portico. I thought they are not common here, but when you look you see many of them. The one in the image is a stretch I think but I let it count for me :-)
On the way back from a dentist appointment and my swimming session. Happy that I’m feeling a lot better again. Love the nice spring weather and looking at my surroundings to find houses with porticos.
I just started reading Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life by Anne Lamott.📚
Photo Challenge Day 17 I’m on the early pages in my new books. So far it is interesting.
My wife is the best. I got three boxes of orange Haribo Gummi bears.
Photo Challenge Day 16 one of the bigger roads in the city where I work.
Photo Challenge Day 15 I needed a lot of patience with my daughter today when learning for her school tests. The image shows her maths homework.
Something strange happened today while folding laundry: I had the correct amounts of socks – that never happens! I think I need to play Lotto today :-D
I had so many plans for my free day today, but it does not look like I can execute any of them right now.
I feel tired and empty right now. So I need to step back and give my body time to regenerate.
I love how when you write, you start to find your characters. And they also take on a life of their own. And you get to know them better while writing – I’m not sure if this process works for longer stories, but it works pretty well for the length of story I’m working on.
The only issue is that I must ensure I don’t mix up all the characters in my mind. There are so many of all different stories :-D. 📝
Photo Challenge Day 14 I’m trying to expand my horizon by experimenting with bookbinding. The image shows my bookmakers cradle and part of a new textblock to bind.
Photo Challenge Day 13 No connection at the moment with this cable (all is fine with me that is an older image, the image shows me on an ER bed with the connector for an EGK in my hand).
Photo Challenge Day 12, these flowers are a shiny sign of spring.
Success, I found the cat again and could convince it to sit on my lap. The only problem is that I should have been walking to the swimming pool and not petting cats. But priorities!
Photo Challenge Day 11 Not sure if this is gimcrack or steampunk. The coffee machine in I was eating dinner yesterday evening. But one thing is for sure: It was undoubtedly costly.
On the top of the church tower, I was looking at the cooling tower of the nearby nuclear power plant. Where part of the power comes from powering my devices at home. In between, we see the city and a street with cars. I like how the long exposure time streaked the car’s lights.
The church door (see the last image).
I don’t have pictures from the inside, but I love the contrast of the outside with the raw stone look, and the interior has a surprisingly light and colorful color scheme.
One unintentional side effect of writing more fiction is that I’m constantly on baby names sites. I am looking for interesting names for my characters. 📝
Yesterday we got a tour of the “Castlechurch” in Niedergösgen, as part of our delayed team Christmas dinner. The church looks bit like a castle from the outside and has an impressive location on small rock outcropping.
Photo Challenge Day 10 My daily ritual: Creating a cup of tee before starting work.
Photo Challenge Day 9 together. Another picture of a drawing. It shows two stick figures holding hands. In has a square head the other a round.
Somehow this day did not turn out as planned today. But at least I’m feeling better again now.
I love scrolling though all the submissions for the micro.blog challenge :-) So many different ideas. And then again for some words so many similar executions which still are different in a way.
Micro.blog @moonmehta
I have a new favorite word: Wangchangle. Everything gets wangchangled now!
Photo Challenge Day 8 This is no weather to take a walk.
Sometimes I wonder how the packing decisions at amazon are made. The only content of this box was this right angle square with a length of 50cm/25cm. The box is over one meter long.
I don’t own a CNC but I’ve seen this rotary encoder, and needed to buy it. Not yet sure for what I will use it. But in the mean time it is the perfect fidget spinner on my desk :-D
Photo Challenge Day 7 A whole egg. Soon it will be broken.
Photo Challenge Day 6 I love the engineering used to construct this bridge.
I’ve tried to get my notes from my lates read book in order. But I don’t feel I made much progress. Around 150 raw notes I need to check connect and reduce. Should have done it directly after reading a chapter.
I just finished reading Less is More: How Degrowth Will Save the World by Jason Hickel.📚
Enter text in multiple fields with espanso
I’ve started to use espanso on my computer to reduce some of my typing needed. One issue that bothered me is that espanso does not support sending tabs to the system. The tool supports tabs as text but sends them so that the system does not interpret them to move to the next text field.
Photo Challenge Day 5 still loving the tiles we chosen for our shower. Especially the tiles looking like wood planks.
I’m ready for the movie (A Man Called Otto) at the cinema.
Photo Challenge Day 4 Zip is a handy function when programming.
Pant-service done. I hate it when pockets gets destroy so I regularly need to fix the holes.
When you look at my swimming session form an athleticism point of view it was not successful. I only managed 14 Lanes. But on the other hand I managed to pet five cats on the way there and back!
I think that should also count somehow. The picture shows the pool cat, all black not happy about my petting.
Photo Challenge Day 3 A cabin on a remote mountain top would be a perfect spot to enjoy some solitude. (The image shows a drawing of a cabin on a hill with a tree to the right. A small stick figure is standing in front of the cabin).
Could not sleep well due to an ugly headache :-/. Looks like I’ve moved wrong again and triggered something in my neck which.
Photo Challenge Day 2 weather. The weather does not look convincing right now. All grainy and foggy.
Photo Challenge Day 1: Secure (Image of an handrawn castle with a moat and a half-open drawbridge. Inside the walls other is a single stick figure.
My first self-made book. There is still room to improve but it was a fun process.

@V_ I had an old Zimmerman and it had the most beautiful sound. I'm glad to hear you're getting back into it! Music is good for the soul.

@circustiger its not really getting back into it – I'm a first time learner. And I love the sound of it as well, although I've now also learned that the sound varies a lot with the time of the day and the moisture content in the air. Would never have thought (as a child) that I once will own a piano.
