Review of A Series of Unfortunate Events #1

I just finished reading A Series of Unfortunate Events #1: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket.📚

At the beginning of the story, we are introduced to the three main protagonists, the Baudelaire siblings. Due to a fire, the parents are dead, and they now need a new home. The home is found quite fast, but unfortunately, the person responsible for them currently does not really love them and has a more significant interest in getting to the inherited fortune of the orphans. And starts a cunning plan to reach his goal.

I got interested in this series due to a discussion in a Slack channel I’m a member of and the Netflix series – which I have not yet watched – but got recommended multiple times by the algorithmus. The book is written for children, and the plot is rather simplistic, but the author compensates for this by an excellent writing style and enjoyable humor. You still get something out of them by reading it as an adult. I especially liked the fourth wall breaks.
