Review of The Relentless Moon: A Lady Astronaut Novel Book 3

I just finished reading The Relentless Moon: A Lady Astronaut Novel by Mary Robinette Kowal.๐Ÿ“š

This book series is such a page-turner. Starting the book, I was hoping to get more from Elmas POV but reading the title clearly shows that this is not the case. I’m not sure what I was thinking there ;-) In this part, we see what happens on the earth and the moon from Nicole Wargin’s perspective. She is also a member of the original Ladies Astronaut group.

It sheds more light on the moon station project and her motivation and background; meanwhile, the tension between the different political groups on earth increases. Part of the population feels left out and is questioning the idea of evacuating earth and instead wants to invest the money on earth.

The style of the book has changed compared to the earlier issues. The relentless moon reads more like a thriller. We follow how Nicole is uncovering the responsible group behind the sabotages that frequently happen on the moon. It is undoubtedly a departure from in style from the other two books. But you still recognize the brilliant storytelling by the author and the worldbuilding.

As I wrote initially, this book was a page-turner. I recommend it โ€“ like the rest of the series as well, and I’m eagerly waiting for the next book in the series.
