Review of The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read by Philippa Perry

I just finished reading The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read (and Your Children Will Be Glad That You Did) by Philippa Perry.📚

The title says it all, and no further summary is needed for this book ;-)

Opinion

Please note that from here on out, the text can contain spoilers of the book.

I enjoyed reading this book, but it was not a simple book to read. It asks a lot of questions that are not always simple to answer. But I like the writing style of the author. And also how she set up the book.

Ideally, you read this book before you become a parent. But it’s never too late to read it. And start changing your behaviors. As I’ve read it later, some chapters did not directly provide me any value and made reading the book in the second part a bit slower.

So many good things in this book! One concept which helped me quite a lot is the idea of being a container for your child’s emotion to help them learn to voice what they want and need for themself and explains your role as a parent in a very accessible way.
