Review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter 5)
I just finished listening Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter 5) by J.K. Rowling.📚
Another year at Hogwarts stand before Harry Potter. But the political climate in the Wizarding world has changed. And Harry once again needs to fight to be heard – and believed.
Opinion
Please note that from here on out, the text can contain spoilers of the book.
I like the later issues a lot better now, perhaps because the story got more complex and darker. This book certainly marks the point where the story leaves its roots of a coming-of-age story set in a boarding school. We are now in an action-oriented book.
I had many issues listening to the chapters where Umbridge starts to torture Harry and the other children at school. I find it hard to believe that the students do not just walk out of the rooms. There is some fight back, but I think it is way too late. On the other hand, our lens is quite skewed as we only interact with her through the lens of her “antagonist.” But still, somebody whose idea of punishment is to let a person write lines with a skin-cutting pen should not be allowed to be a teacher.
