Review of Heaven's River by Dennis E. Taylor
I finished reading Heaven’s River by Dennis E. Taylor.📚
In this book, Bob starts searching for Bender once again. He set out for the stars more than a hundred years ago.
And he has lost contact with the Bobiverse since then. Soon a trace is found, but they are not sure exactly of what or whom.
Another issue complicating the search is that the Bob clones are slowly drifting apart. His clone descendants are starting to get new ideas causing political tumult in the Bobiverse.
Opinion
Please note that from here on out, the text can contain spoilers of the book.
Heaven’s River is a solid book that was a joy to read. It has some slow parts, but overall, I think it is nicely written. I especially liked the new Alien race introduced and their world.
The book contains many references to other contemporary cultures, which I certainly not all understood. But when I understood them, it made for some pleasant atmosphere.
At times I needed to check my bearings as the Bobs live so long the book sometimes contains quite some huge time-jumps between the different points of view. But I was already used to this from the other book, so not a big issue.
All in all, I still would love to read more from this universe.
