Review of Manners and Mutiny (Finishing School Book 4)

I finished reading Manners and Mutiny: Number 4 in series (Finishing School) by Gail Carriger.📚

In the final book in the series, will Sophronia be able to finish school? When outside on a secret meeting, Sophronia observes unknown men with tophats climbing on top of the airship. Who are they? And what do they want in the pilot capsule?

I liked the end of the series. It was astonishingly happy and also gave insight into what happens to most of the cast.

We are back in the school, and we see the conflict resolution between the Pickelmen, the Supernaturals, which was brewing over the last three issues of the story. We finally got some answers! And on the way to the significant resolutions, there are many smaller secrets revealed as well. Especially the Schools owner is an agent, and it was part of the curriculum to learn not to tell her anything. This was a pleasant surprise to me.

And the decision for Soap Sophronia took in the last book was indeed the right one. The two still need to get used to it, but they found together. And all without too much drama – which made me glad. I think Gail wrote the romance parts very well.

Another aspect was that it was a clear ending to the story. The series had just the right length. I liked that the author ended it before the quality of the series dropped. And we get a conclusion for nearly every relevant character in the book.
