Thoughts on Cytonic: The Third Skyward Novel
I just finished reading Cytonic: The Third Skyward Novel by Brandon Sanderson.📚
It took me a pretty long time to finish this book. The book itself causes not everything. I also had some issues with reading generally. I think I was a bit burnt out. And then, I struggled with the first half of the book. I did not find my way into the story, I think. Now that I’ve read it, I’m unsure what to think about the book. I did not dislike it, but the first two issues were better. This book took a very long time to start. And in the end, most of the actions that matter is on the last pages.
I also like that Spensa starts thinking about other ways to solve the conflict. She seems to be learning.
I like the part in the book where Spensa is ruminating about a story about going on vacation. It is utterly alien to her. She grew up in an environment where survival was the first priority. It is nice to see how she expands her horizons in this book. She’s no longer the girl only exploring the caves of Deritus and dreaming about adventures. Now she is living them.
I did not care so much for the adventure in this book. But I do care for Spensa and M-Bot, and I liked their character arc a lot!
