Thoughts on How to Make a Living with Your Writing
I just finished reading How to Make a Living with Your Writing.📚
I’ve seen the recommendation for this book in a post by kimberlyhirsh on micro.blog. And as this is a topic I’m interested in I’ve bought the book.
I liked reading the book regarding the topic discussed—however, the writing felt repetitive at times. But I think the book is a handy collection of tips you can come back to, and I can use it to jump deeper into the different topics of how you can earn money as an indy writer.
Also, the whole introduction to how the licensing deals work and which options there are. It was fascinating to me—especially the advice to not sell all your rights in a single transaction. But instead, try to convert your material into as many formats as possible to create multiple revenue streams. I especially liked the topic about translating your books yourself.
Having questions at the end of each chapter about the chapter’s content is a nice touch. I did not answer every one of them. But it certainly gets you thinking about the topics a lot more.

@V_ This definitely feels structured to me more like a reference book to jump in or go back to, rather than something designed to be read straight through (even though that's how I did it). Glad some of it was interesting and helpful!
