The Fabulous Riverboat (Book 2 of Riverworld)
I just finished reading The Fabulous Riverboat (Book 2 of Riverworld) by Philip Jose Farmer.📚
In the second book of the series, we follow the resurrected Mark Twain and his dream for the biggest riverboat there ever was. How far does he go to fulfill his dream?
And I think this is the central theme of the book. How many of your principles are you willing to throw overboard to see the fulfillment of your dream. I liked reading the main character’s inner monologue and personal doubt throughout the story, with each new issue coming Mark’s way.
At times the book reminded me a bit of The Magic Engineer (Saga of Recluce, 3), but here we are more focused on the political parts of organizing a group to achieve a big task. I would have liked it to be a bit more technical.
I’ve enjoyed reading the second issue, and I’m curious about what will happen next. I’m hooked on the series now :-)
