Thoughts on Blood Magick Trilogy (Book 1-3)
My thoughts about the three issues of the Blood Magick Trilogy: Blood Legacy (Blood Magick Trilogy Book 3), Blood Magick (Blood Magick Trilogy Book 2) and The Blood Mage (Blood Magick Trilogy Book 1) by Marie-Hélène Lebeault.📚
I’m torn about this series – I was nearly on the point of giving up reading it. Especially in the middle book, and then it got better again. I liked the unique approach to the magic system.
The first book took ages to start the story, only to rush to an ending that is not at all. The middle book is your generic intermediate book, and the natural conclusion to the story only happens in the last of the three books. For me, it felt like one book cut into thrids so you can have a series to sell. Unfortunately, this left the middle book a bit weak. The last book was the best of the three.
I liked that the author spent some time answering our protagonist’s loose ends after the main story was over. It had just the right length and gave some nice closure. It also helped that we got multiple POVs to enjoy the story from in the last book. It was strange to have a POV change so late in the story, but I think it helped the story stelling a lot.
