Going to space π
After years of training, I’m finally at my goal. Today I go to space! “Welcome, sir; the elevator will be ready shortly,” the handler tells me.
The elevator cabin is humming as it is decent, the door open with a loud beep. “You can enter now; Have a safe flight.” “Thanks, Casey,” I reply to him.
“Thanks, full?” the pilot says as I enter the capsule. “Oxygen and hydrogen thanks are full,” replies the copilot. Crouching down, I move towards my seat and strap myself in β like so many times during training.
The door closes with a hiss as the seal inflates and cuts us off from the world. “We are ready for the final countdown, all system nominal,” the copilot mentions. Now I’m starting to feel my heartbeat, it is about to get real.
β3,β¦.2,β¦.1,β¦ ignitionβ the control-center counts down. Within seconds, the noise in the capsule gets deafening. Behind me, our food is rattling in the storage net.
This is the fulfilment of my dream. The summit of my career. Today, I’m going to space.
