📝 Why spend so much time on a note system?
This week, I was working on my notes again after ignoring them for most of the second half of this year. And I asked myself why I spent so much time on this.
I get value from the system, but only when I invest the time to prune and organize my notes regularly.
It is cool to go back in time and see what I was thinking about a given time by looking at the notes from that time frame. In a way, this works like an extended journal — one where I don’t directly write entries. But I get context for my life by the links and webpages I’ve read. And by writing down my random thoughts about these inputs.
It is also amazing – or sad – how much you forget about your life when you don’t write it down. And then again, just reading a note can reconnect the ideas and thoughts you had at that time.
But the important part is that you need to spend the time to revisit your notes regularly; otherwise, it is only a system where your ideas go to die. As explained in Notes apps are where ideas go to die. And that’s good..
As I wrote in Why do I have a note system while others do not?, I need to get better at revisiting my notes. I’ve now added a reminder to my calendar every Sunday morning to review and clean up my notes. Let’s see how this works out in the new year.

@pratik not quite sure is understand your question. It should not be a micro post as it has a title. But when the title with the first paragraph is short enough it looks like a micro post. The formatting of the first paragraph is done by my blogs feed (I don't host it on MB).

@V_ I meant how is it presented that way on the timeline? The emoji in front of the title, the first few lines of the post, and then the link with the number of paragraphs. I guess since you are not hosting on MB, it seems to be that platform's feature.

@pratik I have made a special feed for micro.blog on my homepage (vmac.ch/feed.json), I've created a blog post with more detail how it works.
