Reading about foreign politics
Inspired by the comment by @Miraz. I like reading about foreign politics from people actually living it as compared to reading about it in a newspaper (from my country).
But then again, talking about that topic online in an election year is hard as there is the constant stress of it going over into a flame war. I liked how this thread managed to turn the tide and get to something more positive, and I enjoyed reading the discussion in the end.
There is also this other factor of what to do when somebody posts something you donβt like: Keeping silent and not pushing back β the easy solution (and usually my method) or taking the bait and writing about it. Knowing that it could escalate. Iβm glad that there are people out there willing to do this. When you donβt fight back in the beginning, the extremists win. I would love to be able to take this position more often, but it is hard for me to do.
In the end, you can only grow when you can discuss everything, and a discussion inherently needs two sides; otherwise, it is an echo chamber.

@V_ You're right about preferring views 'from the horse's mouth' rather than from some editorial process. ????
