I started watching Avatar: The Last Airbender this week – only the first episode so far. I liked it. But it was strange; it was sometimes made quite near the original, but some things were changed. The main characters, especially Aang, were matched quite well.

@V_ If you are a "veteran" of the OG ATLA cartoon series, it helps to understand that they managed to compress 13 hours of expositional narrative and character introduction and development down into about 8. Also note the cartoon relied more on visuals while the live-action has to be more dialogue driven; although they do a very good job with all the visuals too. I'm overall impressed with the series myself for the technical merits and the little bits of fan service given to the OG fans at times. I'm watching the last two episodes later this weekend and can't wait to have a reason to wait for season two myself!
