Cottage Life 📝
It’s another cool morning. The birds are singing outside of my cabin, and the frogs are quacking in the pond. I stock the fire and heat fresh water to brew some tea. While the water is heating, I start my morning yoga session. It warms me up and removes the last leftovers of the night’s sleepiness.
Drinking my tea and eating the last of my bread for breakfast, I gather the energy to till my plot next to the cabin. It’s time to plant my seeds, securing a good harvest come fall. Sometimes, I wish I had a draft horse to help me. But doing it myself helps me stay strong and removes the need to do sports. Such a monotonous task is perfect for thinking about life.
Having done the necessary work to survive here, I now have free time. It sounds strange to think about it as free time. I went living out here to be free, and now I still am not, as I need to work to grow food. It looks like one can never be truly free.
I sit down on the cabin’s porch next to Four Paw, my cat. She only opens one eye and goes back to sleep. And I will also do that now — a short midday rest before starting the afternoon.
I slept a bit longer than planned. Sometimes, my body just needs rest. I picked up my notebook and started writing down my thoughts about life before taking up my saw and axe to harvest some more logs to continue building my shop. It pains me to kill another tree for my needs, but I still need some timbers to finish the building. And I will make sure that a new tree grows instead.
