Review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter 6)

I just finished listening Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter 6) by J.K. Rowling.πŸ“š

Uncertainty and suspicion fill the wizarding world after He, who must not be named, is once again out in the open. Harry gets a visit from an injured Dumbeldore, and he does not disclose what has happened to his wand hand. The new school year starts with a lot of secrets already.

Review of A Memory of Light, The Wheel of Time, Book 14

Review of A Memory of Light, The Wheel of Time, Book 14 audiobook πŸ“š. The final book in the story! We stand before the last battle. Every faction is preparing his or her soldiers. War plans are made – and then discarded again. I have forgotten most of what happens in the last battle; I only remembered Egwene’s battle scenes. But this is a bit sad as so much is happening in this book.

Review of Towers of Midnight, The Wheel of Time, Book 13

Review of Towers of Midnight, The Wheel of Time, Book 13 audiobook πŸ“š. It was a long journey for our heroes, but we arrived at the second to last book in the series. This book finishes most of Edmonds-Field’s five separate plots, and most of them get some time to take a breath, sit together and enjoy some “peaceful” time before the last battle. It is also interesting how you feel that the last battle is imminent, and it does not take any longer until it starts.

Review of Gathering Storm, The Wheel of Time, Book 12

Review of Gathering Storm, The Wheel of Time, Book 12 audiobook πŸ“š. The chapters of Egwene in the White Tower are excellent – and listening to them in audiobook form also makes the dialogs come fully to life. Just for these chapters, this book moved way up in the list of favorite WOT books – I still think that Book 3 is better but not by far! I’m not sure, but Matt sounds a bit off role the first time we see his POV.

Review of Knife of Dreams, The Wheel of Time, Book 11

Review of Knife of Dreams, The Wheel of Time, Book 11 audiobook πŸ“š. In this book, the story continues to follow Matt on his travel out of Ebou Dar and how he starts to earn his respect from Tuon. He also asks Tom about the letter he is continually looking at, marking the start of a new plotline. Perrin releases his wife, and with this finishes, the slog. Rand tries to meet with the daughter of the nine moons, which does not go as planned.

Review of Crossroads of Twilight, The Wheel of Time, Book 10

Review of Crossroads of Twilight, The Wheel of Time, Book 10 audiobook πŸ“š. A lot of slog in this book, but I’ve realized that it is way more enjoyable when listing to an audiobook as compared to reading it yourself. So no jumping over the Faile storyline this time around! I like how you now see all the other characters react to the cleaning of the taint started by Rand in the last book.

Review of Winter's Heart, The Wheel of Time, Book 9

Review of Winter’s Heart, The Wheel of Time, Book 9 audiobook πŸ“š. The saga continues. Perin needs too cope with missing his wife and makes plans to get her back. Elayne arrives in Caemlyn, starting the succession arc. Mat still tries to flee Ebou Dar and meet his future wife. And Rand plans something big, but first, he needs to hunt down some renegade Asha’man. I like this book, as it brings the story forward, and the ending with cleaning the taint on the male source is epic, also, like the scene in chapter twelve where the Elayne, Aviendha, and Min bond Rand.

Review of Path Of Daggers, The Wheel of Time, Book 8

Review of The Path Of Daggers, The Wheel of Time, Book 8 audiobook πŸ“š. The hot weather has broken, and winter finally starts. Rand is now king of another county but has increasing problems with the tain on the source. I enjoyed the further development of the White Tower hunt for the black Ahja. The Aes Sedai finally do something instead of constantly talking. It does not quite work as expected, but it is a step in the right direction.

Review of a crown of swords, The Wheel of Time, Book 7

Review of A crown of swords, The Wheel of Time, Book 7 audiobook πŸ“š. This book spans the shortest period over all the books in the series. Only 11 days pass. I like that when you have such a long series that you can do such things. Slow the flow of time and tell a story from multiple viewpoints in parallel. The following points I’ve observed while listening to the book:

Review of Lord of Chaos, The Wheel of Time, Book 6 audiobook πŸ“š. In this book, we see how the Aes Sedai in Salidar make politic and manage to lift somebody to the stole in the hope to control here. But soon will learn that they miscalculated. On the other side, we also see how the Aes Sedai ruins the meeting with Rand, causing a lot of pain in the future as well.

Review of The Fires Of Heaven, The Wheel of Time, Book 5

Review of The Fires Of Heaven, The Wheel of Time, Book 5 audiobook πŸ“š. We follow three main plots-threads in this book. Elayne and Nynaeve search and travel to the gathering of the blue Aes Sedai, who collected in an old town. Min, Siuan and Leane are also on their way to Salidar and try to stay relevant now that they no longer are Aes Sedai. Rand is moving out of the Aiel Waste to Cairhien, where he fights his first big battle.

Review of The Shadow Rising, The Wheel of Time, Book 4

Review of The Shadow Rising, The Wheel of Time, Book 4 audiobook πŸ“š. Part four of the series and the last time for a very long time where our three ta’veeren are together in the same location. The book starts in Tear, where Rand is learning to be a ruler and how to be in love. But soon, the different groups split up. Perin travels back to the Two Rivers together with Faile and Loial, where he hopes to settle his debt with the Whitecloaks.

Review of The Dragon Reborn, The Wheel of Time, Book 3

Review of The Dragon Reborn, The Wheel of Time, Book 3 audiobook πŸ“š. One of my favorite books in the series. I especially like the ending with the fall of the Stone. I also like the first real occurrences of the Aiel and how our main cast works with them. I have again forgotten how Gaul got attached to Perin so early on in the series. And in these earlier parts, I still like the storyline of Perrin.

Review of The Great Hunt, The Wheel of Time, Book 2

Review of The Great Hunt, The Wheel of Time, Book 2 audiobook πŸ“š. The journey goes further. We start seeing some growth in Rand in this book. I’ve entirely forgotten how early the Black Ajah is mentioned for the first time. Or better, I see now that on the first – and second – time reading, I did not give it’s mention as much thought as I give it now.

Review of The Eye of the World The Wheel of Time, Book I

Review of Eye of the World, The Wheel of Time, Book 1 audiobook πŸ“š. In preparation for the release of the TV series, I’ve decided to reread the series once again - but as this takes way to long, and I still want to be able to read new books as well, I tried the first issue now as an audiobook. I’m surprised how this book still catches my interest no matter that it is the third time I’ve heard the story now.
